And this brings us to the second 'involvement' in 2001 when I was studying racing statistics. The spreadsheet I use contains ten years' results, all meetings, and all races.

If I can reduce a year's work to a few lines, in my studies I discovered a group of results that looked interesting. They repeated themselves over and over again throughout the ten years and although, across all races, they showed the usual steady loss that all plain statistics show, I felt that there was something there – I just knew that there was something there.

The object of my study was a group of results that showed 18% winners at an average starting price of around 3-1. Using several factors presented within the spreadsheet I was able to produce selective procedures that gently eased that 18% figure up to 24% without affecting the average starting price. One winner in four at an average starting price of 3-1 is not bad but is still not good enough for what I wanted.

I knew that, if I could do better than one race in four, I would really be getting somewhere (I was already on a level-stake break even bet) so, with the help of two colleagues, I began on what we called a 'what if' campaign. What if we did this? What if we did that? The question was repeated so many times that we sometimes wondered if one or the other of us was going mad.

Then it happened and, like all puzzles that have been solved, the answer now seems obvious. We made that breakthrough and achieved 30% winners! What excitement – we could hardly wait to start checking out the results using our newly discovered factor. Of course, it is all very well
'proving' something in retrospect but quite another thing to see it working in practice.

Obviously, I cannot give full details of our discovery but, since that magic day in 2001, we have now completed three years with the system and have maintained our record of 30% winning bets throughout that period.

When I felt that the time was right I offered our system to the public, releasing only the details of the bet recommended by the system on a day to day basis i.e. the system itself is not for sale.

And that brings us up to date. We analyse our selection process and staking plans constantly (any business that does not do this will fail) and will continue to do so. Many of our clients contribute in these departments and we welcome their input.
